Empowering Art with Clean Energy

To make our cities and their shared spaces greener, sustainable, and liveable, Sembcorp India extended its support to the artfully curated Museo Camera, a landmark in Gurugram dedicated to the art and evolution of photography, to reduce its carbon footprint and achieve energy savings through solar power. In line with our strategy to enable a low-carbon future, we installed a 60KWp rooftop solar system at Museo Camera, driving the adoption of renewable energy for this unique cultural space.

A collaborative effort between the India Photo Archive Foundation and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, Museo Camera is Southeast Asia’s largest non-profit, crowd-funded Centre for Photographic Arts. Spanning 18,000 square feet, the museum houses hundreds of vintage cameras dating back to the 1850s, along with galleries, lecture halls, and a fully functional darkroom - all requiring significant energy for air conditioning, lighting, and operations.

Our Engineering Technical Service team assessed the museum’s needs and delivered a solution that is expected to generate annual energy cost savings of approximately INR 0.66 million, based on INR 8 per kWh. Over its lifetime, the installation will help reduce 1,697 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to planting 2,716 teak trees - a tangible step toward sustainability.

By powering Museo Camera with clean energy, we are not only supporting a cultural institution but also reinforcing our commitment to a low-carbon future and the UN SDGs.
